The BARD crawl

Hear ye! Hear ye!
“Hell is empty and all the devils are here”.

What happens when you take a merry band of misfits, pump them full of ale and other spirits, and ask them to recite the works of William Shakespeare? Watch as the cast of The Heartscope ensemble takes you back to a simpler time: where the course of true love never did run smooth, men are born into greatness, achieve it, or have it thrust upon them, and what’s fair is foul... and vice versa. Where we murder our fathers, our friends, and (if you’re lucky) even ourselves. Rest assured, there is sure to be a variable cornucopia of sword fights, deception, mystery, intrigue, love, hate, and betrayal (often sudden and inevitable). We may even discover what has truly gone rotten in the state of Denmark. Join us for all this (and possibly more than you bargained for) at the First Annual Bar(d) Crawl!

The Myrna Loy Presents- Jesus Christ Superstar!

Lyrics by Tim Rice
Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber

What’s the buzz? The first musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice to be produced for the professional stage, Jesus Christ Superstar has wowed audiences for over 40 years. A timeless work, the rock opera is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally-known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot.

Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Superstar follows the last week of Jesus Christ’s life. The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers and the Roman Empire.

The iconic 1970s rock score contains such well-known numbers as “Superstar,” “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” and “Gethsemane.” A true global phenomenon and perfect pick for schools, community theatres and professionals alike, Superstar continues to touch new generations of audiences and performers.

The Myrna will host this musical classic spotlighting one of two of the collaborations between Heartscope and The Myrna Loy

Robin Hood-Ish
to Oct 6

Robin Hood-Ish

Robin Hood! The classic story we have all grown to know and love, but probably a lot fuzzier and softer than you remember. When lawsuits and copyright infringement are on the line, Heartscope unleashes puppets to siege the stage and tell this legendary story like you have never imagined it before… at least we hope you haven’t imagined it like this before… you weirdo.

When push comes to shove, our unlikely hero embarks on the journey of a lifetime, whether he wants to or not.   This telling of the timeless tale totes love, tragedy, song, dance, and the beauty of humanity all wrapped in a lovely fleece package. Wait. Did I say humanity? I meant comedy. We ran out of room, for humanity.

While this performance has a cute and plushy appearance, these puppets are packing quite the edge. Make no mistake, these colorful characters have no qualms to get down and dirty and make your dear sweet GramGram blush. So, be advised. THIS IS NOT A CHILDREN’S SHOW.
